Proyecto Saber Project
by Adam / Dec 15, 2013
This fall, 826 programming staff Alicia Craven and Sue Spang and a team of volunteers collaborated with the Proyecto Saber program at Ballard High School for the second year in a row. Proyecto Saber is a cultural, civic and academic support program at Ballard and Chief Sealth High Schools that centers on Latino culture. Volunteers are working with students over the course of five weeks to create digital storytelling pieces that combine memoir writing, photography, and audio versions of their pieces. Prominent Northwest authors Kathleen Alcalá and Domingo Martinez, and prominent Northwest photographer Victoria VanBruinisse are collaborating on the project as well, giving the students the chance to work side by side with professional artists. This workshop is courtesy of our friends at the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture.
